At Northern Beaches Physiotherapy we run a couple of exercise classes, which are tailored to our clients goals.
Physio Exercise Classes – including Pilates based movements: These are small, physio run classes for everyone from 9-90. Unlike health clubs we offer physiotherapist run classes to small groups to ensure that all exercises and movements are properly executed while being able to give individual participant attention. The physio may recommend one additional one on one session should you require more personalised care before starting the classes.
your phyiso will take you through a simple list of tests to assess your particular strengths and weaknesses and ensures your understanding and how to address them. This way we ensure that everyone receives more attention, allowing adjustments to exercises to suit personal needs, strengths or limitations.
Two stages:
#1. Introduction – A 1:1 session with a physiotherapist, during which the most base level muscle activation exercises are taught and movement function is assessed. You take home instructions to be followed at home for 5 minutes every night to begin the relearning of core muscle activation and the laying down of a corrected motor program.
#2. Group classes are restricted to 8-9 participants allowing on-going personalised attention throughout the one hour sessions. Exercises are ramped up carefully to challenge each participant without danger of harm. Pilates based exercises focus on precise combinations of muscular activation, breathing and movement. The skills and knowledge of Physiotherapists and Pilates based exercise is a potent combination attested by the people who have attended our courses and find benefits in reduced pain and improved function.
Balance class – The Balance class is another popular class run at Northern Beaches Physio. This class is tailored to local Northern Beaches seniors with a focus on improving balance and confidence. This class has a keen focus on improving functional balance, allowing its participants to improve not only their balance in the home setting, but allow confidence to be improved in a community setting when ambulating. The ultimate aim is to allow the clients to go about their daily life without hesitation or limitation due to fear of falling. The class has a wide array of specific balance exercises as well as a strong focus on improving the strength of muscles that are crucial in maintaining balance. Just as with the resistance class, this balance class is also run by one of our experienced physiotherapists, which allows for close supervision and modification of exercises for any pre-existing injuries.
If you know anyone that would benefit from these classes or if you, yourself would like to attend these classes, don’t wait any longer and give us a call.
